Perhaps you are just starting out in a new apartment or first home; the list of necessary items which need to be acquired can be overwhelming and the prospect exhausting, so you’ll need a great place to sleep in order to tackle all that needs to be done. That means bedding is an ideal starting point because you’ll need to rest and awake refreshed, so it makes sense to begin with the basics and build your bedding wardrobe.
After you’ve selected a box spring and mattress you will need a mattress pad or protector. These are sold in the same sizes as the mattress and run the gamut from twin and twin XL to king and California king.
You will need at least two sheet sets (experts recommend three, with one set on the bed, one set in the wash and one set at the ready); sheet sets include a fitted bottom sheet, a flat top sheet and one or two pillowcases. Sheets are sold in the same sizes as mattresses.
Modern bedding generally includes comforters and bed ensembles instead of bedspreads; the fast and easy way to outfit a bed is to invest in a quilt or comforter set. Such sets typically include one or two pillow shams, a bed skirt and a quilt or comforter. When selecting a comforter set it’s a good idea to look for one that is part of a bedding collection – this means that you may be able to purchase additional coordinating items when time and budget permit. Such items include throw, toss and boudoir pillows, window panels and valances and similar items.
